Ingredients
Vegetables
- grated ginger and garlic, to taste
- carrot and bell pepper, cut into matchsticks
- onion and mushrooms, sliced
Spices
- Salt, to taste
Pantry & Other
- Cooked rice, for serving
- 400 g firm tofu
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 2 tsp sesame oil
- 2 tbsp cornstarch

Method
- Cook the rice according to the package directions.
- Whisk the tofu marinade ingredients together. Cut the tofu into bite-size cubes, add it to the bowl, and toss gently until every piece is coated.
- Arrange the tofu in the air-fryer basket. Air-fry at 200°C until browned and crisp, turning the pieces once during cooking.
- In a large pan, whisk together the water, soy sauce, ginger, garlic, sugar, vegetable oil, sesame oil, and cornstarch. Add the carrot, bell pepper, onion, and mushrooms; season with salt and stir-fry until the vegetables are tender and the sauce has thickened.
- Spoon the rice into bowls, add the saucy vegetables and crisp tofu, then finish with sesame seeds and crispy chili oil.
Notes
The video does not specify vegetable quantities or an exact tofu cook time; use enough vegetables for 2 bowls and air-fry until crisp. Prep and cook times are estimates. The on-screen sauce uses 2 tbsp cornstarch and 2 tsp sesame oil, so this card follows the video rather than the smaller amounts in its description.
